Cinnamon rolls are a traditional snack from Scandinavia and Sweden. Every October 4th is Sweden's "National Cinnamon Roll Day" to arouse the attention of the Swedish people to this traditional snack. Cinnamon rolls will be rolled out differently according to the local food culture. Appearance, there will be different versions around the world , cinnamon rolls exude a unique aroma, taste similar to between bread and cake, with a cup of American coffee is the perfect afternoon tea combination!

The practice of cinnamon rolls is not as complicated as making bread. The process does not require a mixer. It only takes a short time to knead the dough, and it is easy to get started with zero basics. Let’s make caramel me today!

Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls





1.  Preparation before making (cream)


Pour the unsalted cream into the empty bowls, and use a spoon to soften and set aside. The two bowls of cream have different uses and need to be marked.

More cream: for making cinnamon filling (return to refrigeration)
Less cream: for kneading dough



2.  Make the dough


Pour special flour for bread, sugar, yeast powder, milk, 30ml cold water (3 cups in total) into a bowl, press and mix with a spatula for 30 times, and knead it into a ball with your hands.

3. Knead the dough


Take the dough out, add 20ml of cold water, push it forward and roll it up again, repeat the action about 100 times until the water is completely incorporated and does not stick.





4. Knead in the cream



Spread the cream on the surface of the dough, push it forward and roll it up again, and repeat the action about 100 times to complete the dough.

Remarks: I left out the step of kneading in the cream. When the cream is added later, the dough has already begun to ferment. This step is very important and should be paid special attention to.





5. Dough fermentation


Put the dough into a plastic box and flatten it, close the lid, draw a line at the height of the dough on the box body, and another line at 1.5 times the height of the dough, and leave it for 20 minutes to ferment.




6. Cook the Cinnamon Apple Stuffing



Turn on a medium heat, pour the cream and sugar into a pan, heat until melted, then add the diced apples, remember to stir fry to avoid burning.



Add the cinnamon powder, stir fry quickly, and turn off the heat after the juice is collected.


7. Dough forming


Lay a baking mat, sprinkle with a thin layer of high-gluten flour, put the fermented dough on the baking mat, gently pull it to the same size as the baking mat, and spread the apple cinnamon filling in the middle of the dough.



Fold the dough on the left and right to the center and pinch the opening.



Sprinkle lightly with high-gluten flour, remove baking mat, lightly coat dough with high-gluten flour, press dough slightly apart.




Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough (if there is no rolling pin, it can be replaced with a wine bottle), and roll up the dough from end to end.


Saw the dough into 4 equal pieces. 




8. Put the dough into the mold


Put the dough into a paper cake mold, cut side up, cover with cling film, and leave to ferment at room temperature for 30 minutes.




9. Air fry


After the fermentation is complete, remove the plastic wrap, put the dough into the air fryer, and air fry at 150 degrees for 15 minutes.




After air frying, take it out and let it cool. Add caramel sauce and almond wedges according to personal preference.





Experience Sharing


This is my first time making cinnamon rolls, and I think the process of making is quite interesting, from making to yeast dough, homemade apple cinnamon filling, and finally to the air fryer. My index finger moved a lot, but it’s a pity that when fermenting the dough, the step of adding the cream was omitted, which affected the fermentation time when trying to remedy it later. Fortunately, the finished product is quite satisfactory. I think adding diced apples is sweet and sour. The taste is more divided , and everyone praises it as delicious!

Making cinnamon rolls does not require very professional equipment or a mixer. People with zero cooking experience can easily follow the steps There are many stores in the market that provide material kits, and the way of watching instructional videos with QR codes makes it easier to learn baking at home.
